What is it?

Boots On The Ground is not an event in and of itself. It’s more of an opportunity for us to work together. Boots On The Ground is even a learning experience.

Plain and simple, it is an opportunity to PARTICIPATE ( see the page on Participation). Boots On The Ground is meant to be a sort of incentive for you to participate in local biker and church events. (Remember, participation means to take an active part. Just visiting an event is not participating).

Boots On The Ground is doing Chaplain stuff. Yes, it’s the work of a Chaplain.

Boots On The Ground is a good way to promote and expand your Chaplain ministry if you take advantage of the opportunities these events present.

Here’s what you have to do to qualify..

1. Participate in six (or more) biker related events. They do not have to be “Christian” events as long as the event is biker related. Things like poker runs, fund raisers, sponsored rides (there must be a purpose for the ride other than riding).

Events sponsored by your church or group do not count unless other groups are involved. The idea is to go out and meet other churches, groups, and bikers. So “in house” stuff does not count.

2. Email a report, or testimony to me that describes the event and how you participated in or contributed to the event. This report doesn’t have to be long. A few sentences to describe the event and what you did is good.

Along with the report, send two (or more) photos that show the event. One photo with you in it, one without you.You must email that material to me, David Polk, at bbidirector@gmail.com. Please do not post the material on the Facebook group page.

If you have any questions about Boots On The Ground please contact me at bbidirector@gmail.com or call me at (601) 799-8817

When Does It Start And End?Boots On The Ground will run April through September. That gives you 6 months to attend 6 events.

What You Get Out Of ItBesides the blessings you get from participating, those who complete the Boots On The Ground requirements will receive a Boots On The Ground appreciation certificate and a BBI Boots On The Ground 2020 patch. You will also get your story and photos posted on the website, and maybe some other places too.

My Recommendations

  • Introduce yourself to as many people as you can, and give out your business card. Get out of your comfort zone. Be friendly.
  • Find and introduce yourself to pastors or other local leaders. Be the one who takes the initiative.
  • Look for opportunities to help. Yes, help. Set up tables, clean up after others, etc. Make yourself useful and you will make new friends and ministry opportunities.
  • At events seek out those who want or need prayer. Bless a bike or two. Better yet, bless a biker.
  • Go. Do. Participate. Use the time to do Chaplain work.
  • Above everything else remember that you are at that event not to promote BBI, but to be an image of God on earth. You are there to shine. You are there to represent Jesus, and He was never shy.
  • The opportunities are nearly endless. You just have to look for them, and take advantage of them.
