A place to use that overused word.
Hebrews 1:6-8 But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him.”
And of the angels He says: “Who makes His angels spirits
And His ministers a flame of fire.” But to the Son He says:
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom”.
Those who deny the deity of this man Jesus are forced to rewrite the scriptures. Many are the attestations of his divine nature. Here the writer of Hebrews quotes Their own scripture from Psalm 46 to emphasize the power and superiority of the Christ of God, God’s full and final revelation.
Notice that his scepter is righteousness. In this day and age we long for true justice. Jesus will judge truly and firmly according to total knowledge and truth.
No angel can ever hope to be in that position They are ministers, servants, but note that they are instructed to worship him?
Remember in the garden when Peter drew his sword and cut off that dude’s ear?(I think he was aiming for his head but missed but anyway.…) Remember what Jesus said? Peter.put away your sword (He might have even said it is a puny weapon after all) because he then said “Matt 26: 52 … for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? 54 How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?”
So Peter has a puny weapon…if ONE angel slew the firstborn of Egypt in one night what could 12 legions do this frail world.(Aside here Until the middle of the first century, 10 cohorts (about 5,000 men) made up a Roman Legion. 60,000…)
But his main point isn’t peter’s puny attempt to save him but rather HIS valiant attempt to save US.”How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?”
All the power of heaven and earth surrendered and was made humble even to death that night and it was because of you and because of me.
Here is a place to really use that overused word AWESOME!
You ponder that.
