A Humble Example
Hebrews 1:4 “having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they”.
Here in the ongoing thought of the Superiority of Christ the final word in revelation, we see his superiority to Angels as well.
Note: One commentator says that “Became here is not a change of existence, but a change of state”.
For a time, during his redemptive work, he was made lower than the angels and afterwards exalted to a much higher position due to what he had accomplished in redeem us.
In Philippians 2: 5-11 we see the plan unfold.
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it [b]robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We see that he volunteered for this it was not forced on him.
The point in Philippiansp 2 of showing Christ’s humility is to underscore OUR need to humble ourselves and serve as he did. Hey, Paul says “Have the same mindset Jesus had and humble yourself , stoop low to lift others up. He will reward you later
You ponder that
