My Next Steps

Samuel E. Horrell

I have been asked to accept the role of Chaplain in a motorcycle ministry. It is a ministry that was started back in 1997 and was very active in the community for several years. Due to sickness and the passing of the founder it disbanded and has not been active for many years.

One day a while back, I was doing my daily Bible study, and it was as if God spoke to me, saying, it is time to resurrect this ministry. I kept quiet and prayed about it for a couple weeks. One day I was talking to a friend and told him what had happened. He looked at me with a surprised look and said that the Lord had revealed the same thing to him. Conformation right there.

Therefore, I decided to take a Chaplaincy course. If a group of people wants me to be their Spiritual leader and has the faith in me to be the Shepard of the flock, I felt to learn as much about being a Chaplain as possible.

When finished with this course, I am going on to further my knowledge of the Scriptures of the Bible. I will be attending a course through Anchor Bible College, and also doing some more online schooling.

I will not just be ministering to the motorcycle community, but I see other opportunities as well. Being a former EMT/Firefighter, I see the need to have a Chaplain available if needed. Also having experience working with a drug rehab and a local Celebrate Recovery, I see the endless opportunity to minister to many hurting souls.

While going about in the various fields of Chaplaincy, I must remember that I am representing God, and everything that I do will be decent and with integrity. As a friend of mine once told me, “feed everyone out of the same spoon”. What he meant by that is to treat all people equally.

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

My prayer: Dear God, make me worthy to do what needs to be done. Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to be a laborer for the Kingdom. Amen.

Thank You,

Samuel E. Horrell
