My Chaplain Philosophy
“To Serve” Matt. 20:28
To Serve God by Serving Others.
To Serve–the least to the greatest; regardless of religious convection or social standing, and without expectation.
To earn the privilege of speaking into someone’s life by living out the love of God in tangible ways–Serving them: by my presence, compassion, attentive listening, giving of time and resource, and being non-judgmental.
All without compromising my own convictions.
To Serve God and others by seeking His guidance and wisdom through prayer and studying His word.
Through years of being involved in various ministries, from PK to Prisons, I have learned that you have to earn the right to minister or speak into someone’s life.
One of the most important things you can do is to get to know them. This can only be accomplished through time sent with them (Presence), listening attentively, and prayer.
Next Steps
I am currently a Chaplain for my chapter of BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse).
When I was asked to fulfill this position I was both honored and humbled. When I asked what they expected of me I was told I could make the position anything I wanted.
There is currently no coordinated effort among the other Chaplains. I plan to initiate a coordinated effort to outline the expectations of a Chaplain through study, training, and peer discussion.
To help outline for all members an understanding of not just the physical battle we are engaged in, but more importantly the spiritual battle Eph 6:12-13
Have a great & exciting day, and God bless.
