My Chaplain Philosophy
After studying, and many moments in prayer, something sparked my spirit when the topic of the least of these
came up. I have spent many hours doing street Ministry and have run into what I will call the obvious ones of the least of these
. This means gathering around and feeding the homeless and supplying clothing and other needs…all great things which I honor.
My belief is that I should not look for the obvious, and that I should be available when he Lord wants me to intercede without judging, but also that I should be more into the nudging part of my ministry.
I believe that even a person who who works on Wall Street could be one of the least of these
if they don’t know about the peace and comfort that our Savior can bring into their lives.
I also believe that our approach should always be edifying, with the presence of comfort, and that our words should always be assuring to whomever we encounter. People need to know that they are being listened to, and that their words and maybe even their tears are important to us and the Lord.
In the 39 plus years I have been clean and sober and in the biker community as well as the people who choose a man-made God—or the higher power aspect—I myself was in the recovery world and still go because the lord met me where I was at in the confines of recovery meetings and I just go and make myself available to his children there also.. I am a true believer in what I call a voice hug-or verbal hug—speaking in a voice that reflects the pure comfort of the counselor who dwells with in me. I believe spirit speaking will always reach spirit hearing it just takes time in some so I never just pray or comfort someone —-in a one and done basis
I believe in following up is the key-My goal in life is not to be a great leader but the best follower I can be .As far as prison ministries go I believe in a metaphorical way that our mission as Christian should be always to be about setting the captives free just like the church is not about a building prison is not always about a cell.
