Chaplain Of The Month – Ronald Long
My name is Ronald, but everyone calls me Ron. I’m 65 years old and retired on disability. Sixteen years ago I turned my life over to God. I had my own band we played clubs and parties. We were known as a rowdy band cause we partied hard with the crowd.
I ride a Harley have long hair and earrings, and I guess I thought I was a rock star. God had other plans though, he kept working on me.
I was heading home from a club in my truck and totaled it out one night. I went in a deep ditch, but it didn’t hurt me other than my pride.
A month later I got a DUI and it cost me two thousand dollars to get out of it. Well, that didn’t slow me down. A couple months later I started staying sick all the time, started missing work, and didn’t know what was wrong. I went to my doctor and he told me he thought I had a tumor on my liver. God got my attention then.
They sent me to have tests, and on my way, I prayed and told God I couldn’t do this on my own. I got home and went back to my doctor. He told me that I had a highly inflamed fatty liver and that I had better change my life.
Well, I told God I needed help, so I took off from work and got some help and quit drinking and smoking. Now I’m playing Christian music and I’m President of CMA Restoration Riders and I’m certified chaplain thanks to Biker Bible Institute.
God has a plan for us all if we are willing to slow down and give ourselves to Him.
