Chaplain of The Month – Fran Ford

I’ve had the privilege of being the chaplain for 3 years in our CMA chapter “High Mountain Gospel Riders” here in Western MD.

I enjoy praying for folks. I love witnessing to other bikers and bringing the word to our chapter so much that I prayed and decided to pursue biker chaplaincy full time.

Since I’m a believer that God has called us outside the 4 walls, being a BBI chaplain is perfect for me and the cause of Christ. I certainly have a gift from God, a calling, as we all do, to bring others to the Lord. Since my past biker life was one full of drugs, danger & darkness, while riding with the “Pagans” in Baltimore, I now have a special burden in my heart to minister, mainly to Bikers.

The CMA allows for that open door but my BBI chaplaincy gives me the “legit” position with these bikers that they truly do respect.

Has it been easy, and have all doors been open? No. Not all the time. I’ve been knocking on the jail door now for 8 months to get in there with the women, but, it’s not been open to me yet!

I haven’t had any real kudo’s, so to speak, from leadership in my church either. That’s one reason I’m thankful for BBI it allows me to be outside the church walls with pride, not expecting pats on the back, but from Christ one day I will. I have had the awesome privilege to baptize 3 ladies this past summer, which I’m so grateful for.
My main focus is bringing the word of God and Salvation to the lost though, especially the lost bikers. I have a soft spot for them since I’ve been there and know how dark and lost their world is.

I’m looking forward to many more opportunities here in the Spring & Summer.

Thanks, BBI, It’s a God-given, driven ministry!
