Eph 4: 7But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift“.

Beginning in verse 7 we are told what we have as individuals. We are all individual members of a very large family—the family of God. It is good to know that even though we are part of a large family, God has not forgotten us as individuals.

Together, as individual members, we make up the Body of Christ.

Many would like to be a visible or exalted member in the Body of Christ. Yet, it is important that we find out where we belong in the body and begin to function in that place. There should be no jealousy concerning where the other members function—we are all part of one body and need each other to function successfully.

My old car has many important parts. You know that most of them haven’t worn out over the last 20 years. But I find the small parts DO wear out or need replacing. If I have a skip in the motor I do not think “Oh the motor is bad. I check plug wires and then plugs. (OK I am not a mechanic but bear with me).

If I find some hesitation I may assume it isn’t the running gear as much as maybe the fuel filter or even pump. It is wise to remember that the whole machine is only as good as it’s weakest part.

Maybe you feel small in the body…as small as a spark plug? Or as small as a distributor cap? It is wise to remember that the whole body is only a strong as it’s weakest part. So do your part, don’t worry if you aren’t in charge (actually none of is) but tend to the spark God has called you to be and you, along with this 7 other spark plugs can and will move the body along as God intends.

We are family
